On October 16th, CCTEC hosted its annual Cornell Technology Venture Forum™ (CTVF). The event was held in the Biotechnology Building on the Ithaca campus. Attendees included a broad range of investors, industry professionals, and members of the Cornell community. The forum featured nine oral presentations, including four Cornell startups and five emerging technologies, from faculty inventors at Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medical College. Additionally, posters focusing on eight emerging technologies and one Cornell startup were displayed in the atrium of the building for attendees to view and discuss.
The company presentations included Widetronix Semiconductors, GeneWeave Biosciences, Vitis Biosciences, and Marmotech. Company representatives shared details of their businesses and innovations, in hopes of securing additional funding and establishing more business relationships. Five technologies in the areas of skin care and anti-cancer products, addiction vaccines, drugs for spinal cord injury, organic semiconductors, and inhibitors of proneurotrophins were also presented throughout the day as examples of research taking place at both Cornell campuses.
The posters displayed at the event sparked many conversations between inventors and attendees. The forum included two networking breaks, lunch, and an evening cocktail reception, all were opportunities for guests to view posters and discuss business opportunities. Poster topics included male fertility, cancer, plant drought and stress tolerance, wound healing, autoimmune disease drug development, computer aided diagnosis, and sample detection systems. As a company, Mezmeriz also shared information about their product through the use of a poster.
