IP & Pizza™: FDA Regulations for Medical Foods - A Case Study

Shelley Weinstock, Chief Scientific Officer at Ubisol-Aqua LLC and a nutritional biochemist by training, spoke on FDA regulations for medical foods. Attendees learned about the advantages and disadvantages of the medical food regulatory path compared to nutritional supplements.


Shelley earned her PhD from MIT, continued post-doctoral work at Harvard School of Public Health, and enjoyed faculty positions at Barnard College and the Institute of Human Nutrition both at Columbia University.  She is also a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition, a Certified Nutrition Specialist and a member of the American Society for Nutrition.  She has published research in the areas of cholesterol metabolism, artificial blood, and most recently Parkinson’s disease.  Her current preclinical studies, funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation, examined the bioavailability and efficacy of UbisolQE, a proprietary CoQ10 formula from Zymes/Ubisol-Aqua, in animal models of Parkinson’s Disease.
