Breakthrough Battery Materials to Advance Electric Transportation
Alex Yu, Ph.D. ’14, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology

Despite a thrilling driving experience, high-energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly status, the majority of today’s electric vehicles still suffer from insufficient driving range (<100 miles), limited lifetime (<200 cycles) and long charging times (>10 hours). This presentation included information about this new battery technology that effectively addresses these challenges by offering anode materials with 3x energy density, 4x durability, 3x faster charging rate, and only 20 percent cost as compared to current materials. Currently there are 100-bench scale prototypes tested under various conditions and are ready for investment and partnership opportunities to scale up these products for industrial testing.
